SPOILERS: Five potential victims for an impending murder have been hinted at on the ITV serial opera.

It would be an understatement to say that Coronation Street’s last disclosure of which Weatherfield citizens would meet their maker after being murdered on the ITV soap opera is disappointing. Five people have been identified as potential victims, and their identities will be revealed on April 23. The dramatic moment was hinted at by show boss Kate Brooks back in January. Betsy Swain (played by Sydney Martin) sobs as she describes discovering the body in a flash-forward sequence that introduced the most recent episode, which aired on Monday, February 16.
Five potential people who might wind up in the morgue were shown to viewers during the episode, and it was the most predictable thing I have ever seen. Look away if you haven’t seen it since there will be spoilers. All five of these characters are new to the cast and are highly despised. Unlike a legacy or long-running character, none of them will be a loss to the show.
In addition to being Will Driscoll’s athletics coach, Megan Walsh (played by Beth Nixon) has an extramarital affair with him after grooming him. She only joined the show in early November. In March 2025, James Cartwright’s character Theo Silverton joins as a romantic interest of Gaeth Pierce’s character Todd Grimshaw. But he soon started mistreating the well-liked undertaker, and for months, supporters have been pleading for him to go.
Though she is arguably the most well-liked of the five, Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), who debuted in October 2025, is a vile character who is allowing an innocent man to languish in prison for attacking Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) in order to shield her grandson Will, the real assailant.
The newest cast member is Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), who made her debut on the soap opera in the January 5 CorrieDale special. Although she hasn’t done anything particularly horrible yet, the sister of Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) is undoubtedly envious of her sister’s life, and her admirers haven’t taken to her.
Lastly, since his debut in April 2025, Jonathan Howard’s character Carl Webster has only caused problems. He ended the marriage of Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) and his wife Abi (Sally Carman), and his mother/sister Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) is presently incarcerated after accepting responsibility for his reckless driving.

When EastEnders depicted a death during Sharon Watts’ (Leitita Dean’s) wedding in February 2023, they employed the same flash forward technique. The scene, which featured “The Six” standing over a dead body in the Queen Vic, hinted at the Christmas 2023 plot. On Christmas Day of that year, the reveal marked the conclusion of the plot.
The main distinction was that, much to the ire of fans, producers teased long-running characters like Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), demonstrating that people genuinely cared about many of the individuals in the mix. Additionally, they included a clear choice in the form of the violent Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry). This proved to be somewhat unexpected because Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) was the real victim.
Fans would have cared if Corrie had included a Bernie Winters or Ken Barlow, but by making all five potential characters unlikable and unmissable, viewers have no reason to care.
When the murder occurs on April 23, the day of Carla Connor’s (Alison King) and Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) wedding, the victim will be made public. However, I already don’t care about it.
