Emmerdale has introduced a new character in the form of Steve, played by actor Jason Done, who has appeared in a number of popular TV shows
Emmerdale has seen a fresh face arrive in the village.
Kev Townsend’s (Chris Coghill) pal Steve made his entrance during Friday’s (July 25) episode of the ITV soap and eagle-eyed viewers may well recognise actor Jason Done from his appearances in a rival long-running drama
While Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) was on shift in the café, he couldn’t help but clock a stranger casting glances in his father’s direction and was keen to find out who he was.
Kev turned around and discovered it was his old mucker Steve, who had grown up in Manchester, and Steve wasted no time in revealing Kev’s “naughty” antics from years gone by.
As Steve was introduced to Kev’s son Lewis, he quipped that a child of Kev’s was “bound to pop up” at some point. Noticing that Kev had put down roots in the village, Steve quickly spotted a chance to stir up some trouble.
He swiftly manoeuvred himself into securing a night’s stay at Charles (Kevin Mathurin) and Claudette Anderson’s (Flo Wilson) home, raising suspicions that Kev might be after Claudette’s fortune.
Kev assured Steve he wasn’t involved in anything underhand, insisting he had left his past behind and genuinely cared for his son — but while Kev may have turned over a new leaf, Steve appears very much the same.
Newcomer Jason has featured in a string of well-loved television programmes, most notably Waterloo Road, in which he portrayed beloved teacher Tom Clarkson in the BBC school drama from 2006 until 2013. Viewers may also recognise him from his roles in The Innocents, The Long Shadow, Brassic, The Hack, and Silent Witness.
Between 1995 and 1996, Jason also made a brief appearance in the ITV soap Coronation Street as P. C Bathurst.
In Waterloo Road, he was handed a major storyline from the beginning as the opening series of the drama saw him embark on an affair, betraying his wife and colleague Lorna Dickey (Camilla Power) with close friend and teacher Izzie Redpath (Jill Halpenny).
During the subsequent seasons, both Lorna and Izzie met their demise, leaving Tom grappling with bereavement. In 2013, following numerous years of involvement in the school drama, Tom’s journey reached its conclusion.
He tragically plunged from a roof while attempting to rescue Kyle Stack’s (George Sampson) life, succumbing to the injuries he suffered.
Beyond the realm of television, Jason is wed to agency director Anoushka Done. The couple married in 2009 and share two children together, though they prefer to maintain privacy regarding family matters.
