Coronation Street’s Sair Khan previously dated a fellow soap star before their “relationship was pushed to breaking point”.
Sair Khan has been a staple on Coronation Street for years – but her love life has often made the headlines.
Actress Sair shot to fame playing Alya Nazir on the cobbles in 2014 – and since then, she’s been involved in several big moments. From a harrowing racism storyline to her romance with Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), Alya’s time in Weatherfield has not been short of drama.
Especially at the moment, as the soap recently introduced her cousin Idris Nazir (Junade Khan), who has since struck up a romance with Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
Away from the soap, though, who is Sair’s famous ex that she split from? And why was their relationship reportedly “pushed to breaking point”? Here’s everything we know about Sair Khan’s love life.
Sair previously had a two-year relationship with fellow actor Simon Lennon. Simon is most recognised for his role as Ben Tucker in Emmerdale and ‘Brains’ in Michelle Keegan’s BBC drama Our Girl.
Sair and Simon initially crossed paths in December 2017 at one of the most prestigious venues imaginable. She previously said: “We met at Buckingham Palace. We were both members of the National Youth Theatre, and they have a big gala to celebrate their 60th anniversary.
“A load of ex-members were invited to that evening at Buckingham Palace, so we met through a mutual friend that he’s in Our Girl with.”
Simon was present to welcome Sair following her departure from the I’m A Celebrity jungle in 2018.
Why did Sair and Simon split?
However, Sair and Simon later parted ways in 2019, reportedly owing to professional obligations, including Sair’s swimming lessons for her participation in the Channel 4 programme Sink or Swim.
A source claimed to The Sun at the time that the actress discovered the training “more difficult than she expected,” and that it had “really taken its toll on her emotionally and pushed her relationship to breaking point.”
During that same year, Sair tragically revealed that her beloved mum had died in an emotional Instagram post.
She wrote: “My mum died. It’s so hard for me to say those words without getting a lump in my throat” before adding that she’s “cried enough tears to fill the English Channel.”
Sair’s new romance
After her split from Simon, Sair went on to find love with her partner, chiropractor Nathan, whom she reportedly met through a mutual pal in 2020.
In 2022, Nathan went under the knife to remove a benign bone tumour on his pelvis and documented the ordeal online. Sair shared on social media that she was “so proud” of how “open and vulnerable” her boyfriend had been about his health struggles.
And in May 2024, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Ayaan, into the world. Sair shared on Instagram: “He’s super strong and so resilient for joining me on the absolute rollercoaster that was our 22 hours of labour.”
She went on to admit that she didn’t get the birth she had planned, adding: “It was raw and primal and I’m glad I kept an open heart and no expectations because my gosh I had NO IDEA what a ride I was in for.”
