Coronation Street fans fear a soap legend could be killed off in a

Coronation Street might be saying goodbye to a soap legend based on a fresh fan theory.

Daniel (Rob Mallard) has been a fixture on the ITV soap for years as the son of legendary Ken Barlow (William Roache). Throughout his tenure, it’s safe to say the character has experienced no shortage of major storylines.

From his marriage to Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn), who tragically passed away in October 2019 to battling bereavement, Daniel’s stint on the cobbles has been packed with drama.

He is also presently in a relationship with fellow teacher Megan (Beth Nixon), but remains completely unaware of her sinister nature. As viewers will remember Daniel began dating athletics coach Megan earlier this year following her relocation to Weatherfield from Hull.

Unknown to everyone however, Megan has been grooming 16 year old Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) for months and is expecting his child. Their clandestine relationship has remained hidden thus far and Will’s family remains oblivious about Megan, reports the Daily Star.

Furthermore, an enraged and envious Will even assaulted Daniel at Christmas, abandoning him for dead in the backstreet. Will’s grandmother Maggie (Pauline McLynn) provided cover for Will though and furnished him with an alibi, allowing him to escape justice.

Nevertheless, Daniel remains convinced it was indeed Will and has been resolute in proving it in recent episodes. Yet now, viewers worry that Daniel’s tenure on the soap might be reaching its conclusion.

On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one individual posted: “Isn’t there a big storyline coming up for the Driscoll family? Perhaps Will kills Daniel?” Another person concurred: “You might be onto something.” A third added: “Poor Daniel, I can see them trying to cover it all up as well.”

This follows the soap’s confirmation of the five characters who could potentially meet their end in April. Earlier this week, a special flashback episode unveiled that Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) stumbles upon a dead body on the street.

The residents in danger include Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton (James Silverton), Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) and Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), each having a plausible motive to be brutally murdered.

Previously discussing the flashforward twist, producer Kate Brooks stated the special episode will provide a conclusion to the current storylines as they are intertwined into this flashforward.

She commented: “I don’t think I’ve ever told a story that involves quite as many character groups. Everyone’s impacted – everyone’s affected by this story. There’s so many twists and so many turns.”
