Coronation Street fans were left stunned when James revealed his true age on Monday evening
Coronation Street fans were left gobsmacked when James Bailey (Jason Callender) disclosed his age on the popular soap.
James, made his debut on the cobbles back in 2019, quickly becoming embroiled in drama as his father Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) battled a gambling addiction.
James himself has faced personal struggles, grappling with his sexuality while playing professional football for Weatherfield County FC. His situation was further complicated when he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and subsequently dropped from the team.
Following this, James and his boyfriend, Danny (played by Dylan Brady), relocated to the USA, expressing their desire to start a family. A deal was struck with his pregnant sister Dee Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown), who agreed that James could raise her baby.
However, after Danny ended their relationship, Dee Dee had a change of heart and decided they would co-parent baby Laila together.
More recently, James has been involved in a clandestine affair with newcomer Carl Webster, both characters having arrived on the cobbles earlier this year, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Viewers were taken aback by the introduction of a new actor in the role of James Bailey. Jason Callender has stepped into the shoes previously filled by Nathan Graham from 2019 to 2022.
Jason has seamlessly integrated into the soap, featuring in some of its most pivotal storylines. Recently, a fresh family moved onto the cobbles, taking over as the new proprietors of the Rovers Return.
The Driscoll family, consisting of Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) and her partner, Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker), along with their children, Eva, Will, and Ollie, has been stirring up drama in Manchester.
In a recent episode, Eva requested James to conduct a P. T session with Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), who has been finding the family’s relocation to Manchester challenging.
However, viewers were left gobsmacked when James revealed during his conversation with Will that he was only 25 years old.
Given the multitude of dramatic storylines the character has been involved in during his brief stint on the soap, fans had assumed he was significantly older.
Following this revelation, one viewer queried: “25?” Another exclaimed: “In what world am I meant to believe James is 25?!”.
A third chimed in: “Wow James in #Corrie just said he’s 25. The old actor is 34 and the new one is 35.”
James made his debut on the soap alongside Jonathan Howard, who plays Carl Webster, and James Cartwright, who portrays Theo Silverton.
