Emmerdale fans were left swooning after Lydia Dingle underwent a makeover on the ITV soap.
Emmerdale‘s Lydia Dingle, played by Karen Blick, has unveiled a stunning new look on the soap, much to the delight of fans.
Lydia first graced the ITV show in 2016 and, being married to soap stalwart Sam Dingle (James Hooton), she has since become a cherished character among viewers.
The adored cleaner has also been at the centre of numerous dramatic storylines during her time in the village, including a harrowing sexual assault incident.
In terms of romantic entanglements, Lydia had fleeting affairs with Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Rishi Sharma (Bhasker Patel) before finally settling down and becoming an integral part of the Dingle family.
Recently in the soap, Lydia has been dreaming of seeing her favourite pop star, Jason Donovan, perform live. However, when the Dingle residence was struck with a significant electrical problem, Lydia was forced to use her concert ticket money to cover the repair costs, reports the Daily Star.
Despite this setback, Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Sam were resolute in their mission to secure her tickets. But after believing they had succeeded, they discovered they had fallen victim to a scam – a fact they chose not to disclose to Lydia.
In Monday’s episode (December 1), an elated Lydia, under the impression she would be attending Jason’s concert, tried on one of Belle’s dresses. Later, however, both Sam and Belle confessed the truth, revealing that Lydia wouldn’t be going to the concert after all, leaving her both devastated and furious.
However, it’s fair to say it was Lydia’s stunning new appearance in a glamorous dress that had viewers buzzing with excitement.
The beloved character ditched her usual casual clothing for a dazzling low-cut black gown that left fans absolutely mesmerised.
Taking to an Emmerdale Facebook fan page to share their thoughts on Lydia’s transformation, one viewer gushed: “Lydia looked lovely in tonight’s episode in the dress.”
Another fan quickly agreed, writing: “I thought that!”. A third supporter chimed in enthusiastically: “She looked stunning.”
Although Lydia wasn’t able to make it to Jason’s performance, the pop legend is set to make a special guest appearance on the beloved soap very soon.
Discussing his upcoming Emmerdale cameo, Jason Donovan revealed: “I’m incredibly excited to have been asked to make a cameo appearance in Emmerdale as myself.”
He continued: “Filming was great fun, and all of the cast and crew were extremely welcoming. Singing in the Woolpack set was definitely an experience I won’t forget.”
