The Maxine Peacock star issued a fresh update days after receiving her latest test results.
Coronation Street favourite Tracy Shaw admitted she has suffered “a wobble” following her recent cancer test results. On Thursday (July 23), the actress took to Instagram to share her latest health update after several rounds of chemotherapy treatment. The 52-year-old star, who had been diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, revealed that the treatment hadn’t worked as well as she had planned.
On Saturday (July 25), the soap star took to Instagram to thank fans for their well-wishes after sharing the distressing update that surgery is still off the table in her current condition. Sharing a video as she walked her dog through the countryside, she thanked fans for their support and reassured them that she is “full of hope” now that the news has sunk in.
Dressed in a slate grey hoodie and an orange beanie, the soap icon began: “Thank you so much for your truly inspiring, encouraging messages. There was one lady who sent me a message about sometimes the shape of [the cancer is] still there because there are dead cancer cells.
“I like that. I’m hanging on to that one. Yeah, yesterday was a wobble, and yeah, there are moments like this when on this journey. So today I woke up at four o’clock, because I go to bed early, and I sat and waited and watched the most beautiful sunrise, and I realised the gifts and the gratitude that I have.
“That, although the whole of this journey is just pretty excruciating most of the time, there are some major plus signs to how my life has changed in that I woke up today before the light. And I generally, my body just falls to sleep when it’s going dark, and I get to see and sit in stillness and see part of the world that I wouldn’t normally experience. And for that, I’m really truly grateful.”
As she walked through the fields with her furry friend, she opened up about the bonds she has made with other cancer patients. She penned: “I also wouldn’t have met you, amazing women who have gone through way more than I’m crying about yesterday. So thank you.”
“Thank you for shining the light and giving me the courage to get up today and to keep moving forward. And for that, I am really grateful. Thank you.” Earlier this week, she underwent further tests to see if the condition had become any worse, and was told the lesions in her breast had changed shape after the treatment rather than shrinking in size.
In the emotional update, Tracy struggled to hold back tears as she revealed she had found another lump in her other breast, but it was ruled out as a cyst. However, the lesions in her left breast had changed shape after the chemo, making it impossible for her to undergo surgery.
She admitted she was hoping for better news in her tearful update, but is trying to remain positive throughout her cancer battle. Tracy was diagnosed with breast cancer in April after finding a lump in her breast. She played Maxine Peacock on the long-runing soap between 1995 and 2003.
