Emmerdale fans have been left stunned after discovering the real-life age gap between the actors who play mum and son Claudette and Charles Anderson on the ITV soap
Emmerdale viewers have been stunned after learning about the modest age difference between the actors portraying mother and son duo Claudette and Charles Anderson on the ITV programme.
Reverend Charles (Kevin Mathurin) first arrived on the show in 2020 – and swiftly won over audiences.
The character has featured in numerous major plotlines – from his ill-fated relationship with Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) to the tragic passing of his son Ethan (Emile John).
Furthermore, in 2023, Charles’ mother Claudette (Flo Wilson) arrived in the Dales and immediately caused a stir, notorious for her meddling nature.
Of late, Claudette secured employment as a receptionist at the village surgery, and has also welcomed Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) following his release from prison as he attempts to rebuild his life. Charles, meanwhile, also assisted Kev in renewing his vows with Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), reports the Daily Star.

Beyond the long-running ITV drama, astonished viewers have recently uncovered the actual age difference between the actors portraying Claudette and Charles.
On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, watchers highlighted the 10-year age gap and commented: “Flo Wilson who plays Charles’ mum is only 62, and Charles played by Kevin Mathurin was born in 1973 which makes him 52…”
Another viewer exclaimed: “No way!” whilst a third joked: “she was very young having Charles at 10 years old.” One fan observed: “Actors often play a parent that’s not far off their age in real life look at Audrey and Gail in Corrie.”

Before joining Emmerdale, Kevin, who portrays Charles, appeared in programmes including the BBC‘s Doctors and the television series Bronzed. Meanwhile, Flo, who plays Claudette, has featured in Coronation Street and Shameless.
She also shares a connection to comedy icon Peter Kay, having appeared in his TV series That Peter Kay Thing back in 2000.
Additionally, Flo has previously appeared in Emmerdale in two separate roles, both as nurses. Her character cared for Perdita in August 2007 and later as Nurse Bradshaw, who provided support to Zak Dingle during difficult times.
